Library Assistant Position, Dana Hall School, Wellesley MA

Dana Hall School, located in Wellesley, MA, is an independent boarding/day school for girls that enrolls 465 students in grades 6-12.  The Helen Temple Cooke Library is a beautiful and spacious facility that was built in 1998. This position is for the 2014-2015 school year; start date is August 19, 2014. This is a three-quarter-time pre-professional position (30 hours/week) and includes working two nights a week and one Sunday a month on a team that includes three professional librarians. A great opportunity to learn about the varied and stimulating world of school librarianship!

 

QUALIFICATIONS

Ability to work successfully with teenagers and adults

Experience with library management software, technology, reference and circulation

Proficiency with Microsoft Office

A love of books and excitement about web 2.0 tools

Preferably working towards an MLS degree

 

The successful candidate will have a positive interpersonal style & a good sense of humor, a sharp eye for detail and organization, excellent oral and written communication skills, and be able to work collaboratively in a busy environment.

 

DUTIES

Manage serials, technical services, reserves, inter-library loans, and photocopiers; generate and follow up on overdue notices; assist with AV hardware; order AV software; set up displays; schedule and supervise student pages and parent volunteers; maintain library files, documents and LibGuides; post to library blog; fulfill Birthday Book Program donations; and participate in rotating reference/circulation desk duty.
