School Archivist, Buckingham Browne & Nichols School, Cambridge MA

Buckingham Browne & Nichols School invites applications for the position of School Archivist.  Reporting to the Assistant Head of School for External Affairs, the successful candidate will contribute to the further establishment of the school’s archives of 19th to 21st century materials.  Work includes acquiring intellectual and physical control over a collection ranging from audiovisual and paper materials to digital files.  Specific tasks will include, creating a public exhibit showcasing the history of the Middle School, digitizing and annotating 20th century photographs, and arranging/ describing approximately ten linear feet of paper material.

15 hours/week; salary commensurate with experience

Qualifications:

-Completion of LIS 438 and 440 or similar introductory archives coursework

-Strong attention to detail

-Ability to work independently

-Familiarity with MS Office

-Prior experience processing archival collections
