Job Description: 

Reporting to the Associate Librarian of Houghton Library for Technical Services and with day-to-day direction from the Metadata and Special Projects Coordinator , the incumbent performs a wide range of digitization duties.   The primary objective is to provide digitization workflow assistance and metadata for the Houghton Library.

 

Creates structural and descriptive metadata for digitization. Edits bibliographic records and EAD finding aids to link to digitized material Performs quality control check of digital images and their metadata. Prepares materials for digitization and coordinates transport of materials to and from the Imaging Lab. Coordinates with the Photoduplication Liaison to ensure timely and smooth workflows. Handles fragile and rare materials appropriately, consulting with conservation and/or curatorial staff as needed. Other duties as assigned.

 

Job Requirements:

Basic Qualifications: Knowledge of Microsoft Office required Minimum of one year of applicable experience in a library setting, preferably in an academic library.

 

Additional Qualifications: BA preferred Familiarity with ALEPH or another ILS system strongly preferred. Knowledge of archival practices, Encoded Archival Description (EAD), and MARC preferred.
