Book-loving Newton resident (Simmons GPM alumna and former publishing manager) seeks responsible, entrepreneurial student to catalog, evaluate, and help disburse family book collection. Includes diverse subjects, with strong focus on psychoanalysis & psychology. Student will deepen knowledge of cataloging, market trends, and internet book commerce in a changing publishing landscape.
Prime location right off Centre Street. One block from BC Upper Campus. Half mile from Newton Corner (#52 bus); one mile from Newton Centre [Riverside “D” Line]. Connections from Newton Corner and Watertown Square include the #52, #57, #502, #553, #554 busses.
Service requirements:
- Research, catalog, and help disburse a variety of titles
- Look up titles online; establish appropriate price points/valuations.
- List titles having sufficient price and desirability.
- Follow-through with buyers; keep accurate records.
- Identify titles suitable for donation; find donation options.
- Owner will split net proceeds from sales
- Requires native English speaker with excellent writing skills
- Need basic familiarity with online selling (Amazon, eBay, ACE)
- Ability to work independently and use initiative
- Hours flexible; 5 – 8 hours per week
- Student supplies own laptop and cell phone; free WiFi on site
- References & enrollment in relevant academic program
