Information Commons Specialist, Massachusetts Maritime Academy, Buzzards Bay MA

We have two new, part-time positions as Information Commons Specialists to assist library students, faculty, and staff with online services and equipment used in the Information Commons. Common requests include connecting to campus wifi, printers and other online services. The Information Commons Specialists will help the MMA community with questions concerning Blackboard, Gmail, wifi, and other campus accounts. The IC Specialists will be responsible for supporting the laptops and tablets checked out at our circulation desk. Other online administrative duties, such as creating content for the library’s Drupal website, will be assigned as needed. The IC Specialists will create IT help desk tickets for request sthat surpass their responsibilities.

Qualifications: We are looking for flexible, customer-service-oriented people to join our team. Candidates must be able to work evenings, some weekends and Monday holidays; the work schedule is subject to change. Experience with customer service, desktop support, online services or equivalent is required. Excellent verbal and written communication skills are required.

Preferred: Blackboard, Google Apps and Apache Directory Studio experience is preferred. These positions are great opportunities for library school students. We are willing to train eager candidates. Fresh ideas are welcome!
