Position Summary:

Under the supervision of the Access Services Librarian, and working in a team environment with other Access Services staff, assist in the circulation, security, reserves, resource sharing, and collections maintenance operations of the University Libraries. The Coordinator for Access and Privileges will perform some or all of the following duties:

-Oversee patron billing issues, handle fines disputes, reconcile with Student Accounts, as needed

-Handle faculty, staff, and BLC billing; contact appropriate parties by email or letter

-Open and supervise the library in the mornings, Monday through Friday 

-Evaluate need and grant patron privileges to users that do not manually come over in record feed

-Monitor Research Pass requests; evaluate need and grant passes to users outside of Northeastern

-Gather, compile, and generate statistical reports for patron billing and privileges

-Staff and supervise student workers at the Unified Service Desk daily

-Monitor the library to ensure appropriate building use

-Open and supervise the library on holidays as needed 

-Search and retrieve library items

-Shelve library materials and assist with stacks quality projects 

-Make minor book repairs and send other items to library mending as needed

-Troubleshoot equipment 

-Other duties as assigned

Hours will be Monday – Friday 7:45 a.m. to 3:45 p.m, Hours subject to change to adjust for staff scheduling, mandatory library meetings, and during special periods (summer, holiday and intersession).

Qualifications:

Associates degree required, Bachelor’s degree preferred plus two years’ work experience in a library environment required. Working knowledge of library access services operations including general principles of circulation, reserves, stacks maintenance, and library security strongly preferred. Supervisory experience also a plus. Proficiency with office productivity software such as Outlook, Word, Excel, and SharePoint is expected. Previous experience with an integrated library system (such as ExLibris) is also preferred. The successful candidate will be customer service oriented, punctual, attentive to detail, and demonstrate the use of sound judgment in decision making. S/he will employ excellent organizational, interpersonal, and communication skills, especially the ability to be tactful and sensitive to the needs of users, while interacting effectively with demanding and diverse library clientele. Must be able to lift fifty pound book cartons and to push fully loaded book trucks.
