Reports To: Head of Reference & Information Services
General Statement of Duties and Responsibilities:
Performs all duties associated with providing reference and information services to a diverse population of library customers in a busy, service-oriented, urban reference environment. These duties include assisting customers in the use of library materials, electronic resources, computer instruction and technology applications, and answering general information and reference questions. This staff member shares responsibility for collection development; works cooperatively with a behavioral specialist and other staff to manage customer use of the facility, and is scheduled to work Special Collections on a regular basis.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor of Arts degree
- Public library experience preferred, including experience working in a roving environment for service delivery
- Demonstrated facility and/or experience with computers, Internet, and related library technologies
- Demonstrated facility and/or experience with providing outstanding customer service
Physical Requirements:
Must be able to push or pull carts full of books weighing up to seventy-five (75) pounds and lift objects weighing up to fifty (50) pounds. Ability to stand for extended periods of time. Moderate amounts of bending, stooping, squatting, lifting, and stretching.
