Compensation: $13.00 per hour; free membership concurrent with employment; no other benefits
Start Date: Open until filled; position continues as long as intern is attending a library science program
Job Description:
The Boston Athenæum seeks a qualified, energetic, and motivated individual to join the Digital Programs and Preservation Department as a Digital Programs Intern. The Digital Programs Intern is supervised by the Digital Programs Librarian. The position is classified as temporary.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Scanning both bound books and flat documents
- Locating and editing records in the online catalog
- Creating online collections and records in ContentDM, our digital asset management software
- Other duties as assigned
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Currently attending a library science program
- Working knowledge of current cataloging practices
- Working knowledge of digital scanning, Adobe Photoshop, and Adobe Acrobat
- Knowledge of Qualified Dublin Core metadata fields
- Detail orientated, with good research skills
- Experience in photography preferred
