Sticky-(HYBRID) Research and Knowledge Management Analyst, Hinckley Allen, (Boston, MA/Albany, NY/Hartford, CT/ Providence, RI)

Summary. Hinckley Allen is seeking a Research and Knowledge Services Analyst. The Research and Knowledge Services Analyst is responsible for providing on-demand legal and business research and reference support to attorneys and staff, including legislative histories, brief checks, archival research, and complex research requests. The Research and Knowledge Services Analyst is also responsible for maintaining working knowledge of the Research Services’ electronic collections, interlibrary loan availability, and other resources as appropriate. Additionally, this role regularly contributes to business development research initiatives and firm intranet contentand data management.

A Masters of Library & Information Science (M.L.I.S.) from an accredited institution is required; a Juris Doctor (J.D.) is acceptable in place of M.L.I.S. Approximately three to four years of work experience in a law firm library setting is preferred. Applicants must be able to communicate effectively and clearly, as well as to read and write at a collegiate level.  Candidates must also possess the ability to research and find resources quickly and effectively, with little to no supervision, have strong technology skills with proficiency in Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Sharepoint content management.

This is a hybrid position that can be located in Albany, Hartford, or Providence.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

·         Conducts in-depth legal and business research for a wide range of practice areas including corporate, litigation, real estate, and construction ; analyzes and synthesizes research ; provides written summary of research findings

·         Maintains working knowledge of the Research Services’ electronic collections, interlibrary loan availability, and other resources as appropriate.

·         Contributes to business development research initiatives.

·         Contributes to firm intranet content and data management, and related projects.

·         Enforces policies and procedures to achieve research services administration goals.

·         Markets research services and collections to staff members.

·         Assists Director with projects as assigned by the Director.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

·         Masters of Library & Information Science (M.L.I.S.) from an accredited institution is required. ; Juris Doctor (J.D.) is acceptable in place of M.L.I.S.

·         Ability to read and write at a collegiate level.

·         Approximately three to four years of work experience in a law library setting; Law firm experience is preferred.

·         Ability to understand and apply department policies and procedures effectively.

·         Ability to research and find resources to provide client specific intelligence effectively and with little to no supervision.

·         Ability to obtain library resources and information from other libraries and outside sources without supervision.

·         Ability to convert routine forms, reports, correspondence and the like from rough draft to a final draft free of errors.

·         Ability to learn and use new library systems and resources after attending a training session.

·         Ability to follow instructions given by attorneys and staff in order to assist them with their library related needs.

·         Ability to communicate effectively with courtesy and in a professional manner while conducting library business and providing assistance to library users.

·         Ability to work in an environment which occasionally requires a high level of mental effort and strain due to a high volume of requests for information which have to be filled while performing other essential duties.

·         Ability to operate standard office equipment, including but not limited to, a personal computer, photocopier, typewriter, telephone, and calculator.

·         Ability to work more than 40 hours per week on occasion in order to perform the essential duties of the position.

Salary Range: $75,000-105,000
