If so, Saint Peter School in Cambridge, MA, invites you to apply for the position of Library and Technology Teacher! We are seeking a passionate and dedicated educator to join our team and to make the best use of our newly renovated Library space. The ideal candidate will be an enthusiastic advocate for student learning, possessing the skills, drive, and knowledge to create a robust library system that will be used by approximately 200 students each year. The candidate should also possess the skills to create a positive and engaging classroom environment. This individual will play a pivotal role in shaping the academic and personal development of our students, fostering a love of Jesus, a desire for learning, and a passion for building community.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Act as the primary librarian, managing all aspects of the school library, including collection development, cataloging, and circulation.
  • Lead technology class (1x per grade, 10 sessions per week total), to enhance student learning and foster technological literacy across grade levels.
  • Plan and deliver library instruction sessions to teach information literacy skills, research methods, and digital citizenship to students across grade levels.
  • Collaborate with classroom teachers to integrate library resources and services into curriculum units, enhancing student learning experiences.
  • Provide guidance and assistance to students in locating, evaluating, and utilizing print and digital resources for research and recreational reading.
  • Support teachers and students in effectively integrating technology into classroom instruction, including troubleshooting technical issues and providing training as needed.
  • Stay informed about current trends and best practices in library science and educational technology.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Library Science, Education, or related field (Master’s degree preferred).
  • Experience working as a librarian in an educational setting, with a strong understanding of library operations and best practices.
  • Proficiency in library management systems and digital cataloging tools, with the ability to effectively organize and maintain library collections.
  • Enthusiasm about “starting from scratch” and creating robust systems.
  • Experience integrating technology into library services and instruction, with proficiency in educational technology tools and resources.
  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to work closely with teachers, students, and administrators to support learning goals.
  • Passion for promoting literacy and lifelong learning, with a commitment to fostering a culture of reading and inquiry within the school community.
  • Demonstrated commitment to professional growth and development, actively seeking opportunities to expand knowledge and skills in library science and educational technology.

Salary Range: Our salary range starts at $50,000 but is negotiable based on experience. Full time positions include a full suite of benefits including health, dental, 401k match, and more, offered through RCAB.
