Curatorial Assistant – Getty Images Archive, (London, UK)

Who You Are:

  • You have a curatorial ethos of collections accessibility balanced with conservation. Adept at navigating bibliographic tools, you use knowledge of social, cultural and photographic histories to read and connect visual materials.

Your Next Challenge:

  • Involved in all aspects of library care and engagement, you will join a team entrusted with the management of the world’s largest picture library. You will provide expert information and research services for both internal and external stakeholders.
  • Social media (Instagram): composing and proof-reading posts for the @gettyarchive Instagram handle (copywriting and sub-editing proficiency a must); programming guest takeovers; designing and posting stories and reels; monthly reports to include stats analysis; monitoring and responding to follower comments; maintaining an established content calendar of anniversaries and events.
  • Collections maintenance and research: sourcing and presenting relevant materials for visiting researchers and PR enquiries; uncovering and assessing unpublished materials to expand the archive’s coverage and representation of diverse narratives; updating and maintaining the collections database and digital records
  • Conservation: assisting the conservator with the rehousing of print and negative collections – identifying, cataloguing and handling of vulnerable materials
  • Library care: re-filing and classifying of originals across various analogue media in such a manner that enables users to efficiently locate, store, and retrieve visual content
  • Archive Tours: occasional cover hosting visiting groups of clients and students

What You’ll Need:

  • Relevant research or library experience
  • Knowledge of analogue visual media
  • Basic knowledge of the Getty Images Archive collections and visual content library
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Proficiency in Excel, Photoshop and PowerPoint
  • User experience of Instagram, producing reels, stories and posts
  • Ability to work autonomously and with others in both your local team and across the wider business
  • Strong copywriting and sub-editing skills
  • Experience of social media scheduling software is desirable
  • User experience of Instagram, producing reels, stories and posts for business is desirable
  • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail
  • Excellent time management skills with the ability to prioritise tasks
  • Experience of handling analogue visual media is desirable
