Site Director, In-Person Coding/Tech in locations in Greater Boston (Part-Time)

Locations: Multiple locations throughout the Greater Boston Area including Framingham, Wayland, Everett, Cambridge, Boston, Dorchester, Newton, Milton, etc.
Hours: Part-time afternoons and/or weekend days. Available 3 to 25 hours per week. Sept-June
Pay: $25-$30 per hour

As a Site Director with Empow Studios, you will lead a team of instructors in creating an unforgettable after school experience of learning, building friendships, and designing cool stuff. This is a fun and rewarding job where you can learn valuable skills for your future career. We invest heavily in our staff with extensive paid training and an on-the-job coaching program! Our site directors develop important leadership skills such as team building, employee motivation, and giving actionable feedback and coaching. You will also be trained on a variety of technologies to prepare you to directly support your instructors and students in the classroom when needed. All of our site directors end the school year with a formal evaluation letter that can be used as a letter of reference.

This job is a great fit for college students or educational paraprofessionals looking for a fun part-time
experience. This job is also great for people looking to break into informal education professions (after school care or museum education) by developing essential, marketable leadership skills. We offer a fun, supportive environment working with kids who love coming to our program.

Who You Are

What You’ll Do
● Oversee approximately 4 classrooms each day, indirectly supporting more than 40 2nd to 8th graders.
● Work with your instructor team to develop their classroom management skills
● Build strong relationships with the onsite staff of our partner programs, enabling you to work proactively and collaboratively to resolve issues
● Support your team in finding creative ways to help students design projects they are excited about

● Provide additional troubleshooting and technical support
● Learn about and share your excitement about digital design
● Help students work through conflicts and behavior challenges and develop their social-emotional skills
● Collaborate with students’ caregivers, including the staff of our partner programs, to foster and
celebrate success
● Ensure that your sites meets or surpasses Empow’s high quality standards

Our Site Directors are expected to visit all of their sites on a regular basis, but are not expected to travel
between sites on most days. Travel between sites should only be necessary in response to an emergency.

Minimum Requirements
● Demonstrated success as an instructor of elementary or middle school students in a camp, school, or
after school program (any subject matter, volunteer or paid)
● Comfort with technology and interest in the specific techs we teach (experience not required!)
● Ability to clear background checks
● Strong work ethic and attention to detail
● Reliable transportation and willingness to support instructor distributed across multiple, nearby sites
● 21+ years of age
● A high school diploma
Additional Characteristics of an Ideal Candidate
● At least 6 months of teaching and administrative experience
● Previous experience in a leadership role in an educational context
● Experience with Title 1 schools is a valuable plus
● Demonstrated ability to build trust and personal accountability in a team
● Demonstrated ability to positively impact youth and address the varied needs of students
● Experience training or coaching eductors
● Experience delivering project-based learning
● Engaging communication and customer service skills; able to build, strong supportive relationships with
students and caregivers; able to find solutions and remain positive during challenging moments
● Demonstrated attention to detail as are needed to comply with all regulatory guidelines
● Strong commitment to Empow Studios’ mission and culture
● BA or advanced specialty training
