Liaison Librarian, Curriculum Materials, Educational Resource Center (ERC), (Boston, MA)

Reporting to the Head Librarian of the Educational Resource Center (ERC), the Liaison Librarian for Curriculum Materials provides research and instruction services, and collection development for curriculum materials with a strong emphasis on support for the Teaching, Curriculum, and Society Department. 

The ERC, Boston College’s K-12 curriculum library, supports the innovative work of the Lynch School of Education and Human Development, the nation’s number one Catholic college of education. With a robust collection of children’s and young adult literature, K-12 curricula across the disciplines, extensive electronic resources for elementary and secondary classrooms, educational technology, and professional development resources for educators, the ERC supports both teacher practice and research in education. Alongside a collaborative team, the Liaison Librarian for Curriculum Materials has the opportunity to support a diverse patron population, including pre- and in-service teachers, local educators, faculty, and university staff through direct patron assistance, individual consultations, and library instruction programs. 

This Librarian proactively develops collections that support the research, teaching, curriculum and educational needs of the faculty, students within The School of Education and Human Development and specifically the Teaching, Curriculum, and Society Department. They respond to faculty collection requests and individually review and select monographs, journals, and other materials; set-up trials, evaluate and advocate for the purchase of new databases, and recommend appropriate resource allocations within the budget. 

This Librarian apprises faculty of new materials and research tools, technological changes, and scholarly communication issues. They develop effective teaching programs to enhance library instruction for curriculum materials in the classroom, in individual consultations, and on the web.

They provide instruction to faculty and students on the pedagogical use and application of educational technology; and provide a cohesive library instruction program coordinated with the department’s curricula.

They collaborate with other librarians and campus agencies to develop outreach strategies and partnerships with faculty and students. They communicate with their academic departments, and develop appropriate tools and communication vehicles, such as newsletters, research guides, and web pages, to promote and facilitate access to collection information and library services and to ensure that all scholarly information and data services needs are met.  They consult with faculty on their ongoing research and training needs and participate in faculty meetings, colloquia and task forces as appropriate. 

Title and salary commensurate with relevant experience based on the following titles and hiring ranges:

Senior Liaison, 5 years experience, MLS or MS, $68,100 – $85,150
Liaison Librarian, 2 years experience, MLS or MS, $ 61,650 – $77,050
