Social Media Coordinator/Library Program Assistant – Part-Time, Brookfield Library, (Brookfield, CT)

Supervisor: Library Director

Pay: $20.91/hr., 25 hours per week

Closing Date: Open Until Position is Filled

General Statement of Duties: The Social Media Coordinator/Library Program Assistant will be responsible for developing and managing all Social Media content for the library, as well as assisting librarians with programming needs for Children, Teens and Adults. May also include assisting in other areas of the library.

Responsibilities:

Help to develop outreach and marketing content for Library programs, including flyers, digital posts and emails. Collaborate with other staff members on program publicity and execution.
Assist with outreach to build knowledge and understanding of the breadth and scope of library offerings.
Maintain the library’s social media presence and provide assistance with website as needed.
Assist with gathering and analyzing program attendance data and patron satisfaction surveys.
Provide back-up assistance in Children’s Department and at the Circulation Desk as needed.
Assist with other library-related duties as required.


Education & Training:
High School diploma or equivalent required.
Understanding of basic principles of library organization and procedures is preferred.
Previous public library experience is strongly desired.

Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
Working knowledge of information technology, including but not limited to: personal computers, e-readers, smartphones & tablet apps, the Internet, social media and downloadable and streaming media and platforms. Awareness of current and emerging technology uses.
Digital marketing and graphic design experience is required, specifically Canva, Publisher, PowerPoint, Excel, Word, MailChimp and iMovie is preferred.
Good organizational, communication, and writing skills.

The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 40 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include vision, distance vision, and the ability to adjust focus.
