Outreach Manager, Turner Free Library, Randolph, MA

The Turner Free Library (TFL) seeks an innovative, collaborative, and service-oriented Outreach Manager to join our team. The TFL is located in Randolph, MA, one of the most diverse towns in the Commonwealth, and our ideal candidate will enjoy working in a fast-paced and diverse community with a strong team of colleagues. The Outreach Manager will provide information about library services, training, initiatives, and programs to populations in the Randolph community that may not be reached by traditional marketing channels or library services. The TFL is in the process of acquiring a brand new, state-of-the-art bookmobile/STREAM (science, reading, technology, engineering, arts, and math) lab, which the Outreach Manager will oversee. The Outreach Manager will focus on building community relationships and engagement as well as on program quality and delivery of services. 

This is a 35-hour work week, non-union position; some nights and weekends are required.

Salary: Grade 12, range: $54,007-71,070 in 8 steps

Essential Duties:

  • Develops goals, plans, and procedures for implementing outreach services in accordance with organizational strategic plan and priorities
  • Trains new and current library staff at library locations in effective community outreach; oversees the implementation of outreach related policies and procedures for staff and customers
  • Provides inclusive services to patrons from a large array of national, lingual, and cultural backgrounds
  • Plans, publicizes, carries out and supervises innovative, diverse, and relevant programming for adults and seniors (including, but not limited to, computer classes, book clubs, and summer reading). The Outreach Librarian will also work collaboratively with other department heads 
  • Manages and facilitates grants and reporting as needed
  • Plans intergenerational programs for the community at both the library, Randolph Intergenerational Center, schools, and outdoor locations
  • Maintains accurate budgetary records and reports statistics to the Library Director
  • Assists in the Library’s statistical analysis pertaining to the overall outreach programs and patron experience, and prepares reports
  • Maintains a robust relationship with the Randolph Intergenerational Community Center and its staff, along with other town departments 
  • Develop partnerships with local groups and organizations to reach library goals. Attend local community events and gatherings to promote library services. Conduct presentations as a library representative to community groups, at public meetings, and at other library outreach events. Speak to neighborhood associations, citizen groups, and other business and civic organizations to promote library services.  
  • Manages outreach vehicle and conducts off-site library card registration; provides library materials to designated facilities and locations 
  • Promote interest in library programs through written publicity. Assist with public relations and promotional materials for the library, including website and social media posts. 
  • Provides staff supervision in the evenings, on weekends, and may be required to work at the circulation desk occasionally
  • Provides exemplary customer service; routinely addressing complaints and effectively resolving complications.

Qualifications:

  • An MLS from an ALA accredited program is preferred but not required
  • 1-3 years experience in public program planning required 
  • Proficient to advanced technology skills are required. Knowledge of Canva, Photoshop, or Adobe Design Products preferred
  • Must be available to work afternoon/evenings and occasional weekends as well as any large town events. Schedule may be subject to change depending on programming needs
