This role’s key responsibilities will be cultivating an environment that promotes successful collaboration within and across the BLC member institutions through a comprehensive portfolio of professional development initiatives. The position reports to the Executive Director. In this role, you will…

  • Lead the planning and execution of all virtual, in-person, and hybrid professional development activities, including the annual membership meeting
  • Manage all logistics, including registrations, marketing and promotions, and the maintenance of all records, files, and communications associated with professional development activities
  • Evaluate and assess the effectiveness of all professional development activities and consortial initiatives, measuring outcomes and reporting on progress toward achieving strategic priorities and communicating the value of membership
  • Engage faculty and staff from the BLC member institutions in regular needs assessment to inform future strategic priorities, promote expertise sharing, and strengthen capacities for knowledge and skill development
  • Create and maintain documentation, including guidelines, protocols, and best practices to ensure high quality and consistent professional development programming
  • Manage consultants, instructional designers, and volunteers to create engaging professional development and compelling content
  • Develop effective mentorship programs for library faculty and staff across areas of specialization, experience, and location
  • Oversee the design and execution of the BLC’s signature leadership development program, BLC Leads, in coordination with strategic partners and content creators
  • Coordinate with the Senior Program Coordinator to produce a complementary portfolio of professional development offerings that anticipates member needs and supports opportunities emerging from the BLC Communities and the Innovation Fund
  • Partner with the executive director in the preparation of external funding proposals to expand and sustain the BLC’s professional development initiatives
  • Serve as the BLC’s liaison to the Professional Development Alliance, an alliance of library consortia that share and collaborate on professional development activities
  • Maintain the career postings across the libraries of the BLC member institutions and disseminate opportunities to external associations and partner organizations
  • Assist in the preparation of meeting agendas, documentation, reports and presentations for various internal and external meetings
  • Perform other related duties and participate in special projects and events as assigned

Requirements:

  • A track record of designing, developing, delivering, and evaluating professional development programming
  • Proven knowledge in instructional design models, learning theories, and online learning
  • Empathetic communicator with high emotional intelligence
  • Adaptability, with demonstrated experience successfully coordinating both long-term projects and immediate term, emerging day-to-day challenges
  • Reputation as a highly trusted member of community spaces you’ve previously been in
  • Strong judgement to think critically about everything we are doing and ensure that the BLC’s values are infused across all work
  • Experience with Learning Management Systems and virtual meeting platforms (including Hivebrite SaaS, Sched, and Zoom)
  • Knowledge of Google Workplace, basic website development, and basic video editing
  • Residence in the New England region, and ability to travel frequently to the member institutions

Qualifications:

  • Undergraduate degree, plus at least five years’ related work experience, preferably in libraries or higher education.

Compensation:

This is a full-time exempt position with a salary range between $55,000 – $60,000.
