Position Description: Supervisor of Technical Services

Duties:

Plans, implements and coordinates the work of the Technical Services Department. Responsible for the supervision of the Circulation Supervisor, training of the Technical Services Department, and establish quality control guidelines for processing, purchasing and database integrity of library materials.

Assists and supports the Library Director in the management of library technology which includes the library web site, local area network and online databases. Serves as the Library’s implementation coordinator to the Central Western Massachusetts Resource Sharing Library Network (C\WMARS) and manages the Milford Town Library’s migration to the new library online system Evergreen.

Monitors expenditures for library materials in order to ensure compliance with standards set by the Massachusetts Board of Library Commissioners. Maintains and compiles statistics as required. Keeps apprised of information technology and its application. Work with other departments to apply and administer grants. Hours: 35 hours per week. Covers library departments as needed and works every other Saturday from September through June.

Requirements: Master’s degree in Library and Information Science from an A.L.A. accredited program or an equivalent Master’s degree required. One year of supervisory experience as well as experience in the management of web sites and local area networks. Prioritize duties and work independently.

Salary/Benefits: Starting salary Step 1: $51,717.07. Potential 2% Step increase dependent on the new contract. Benefits include personal days, sick days and vacation time earned according to the Milford Town Library Staff Association union contract.
