Full Time Temporary Prospect Research Position, Tufts University, Medford, MA

University Advancement

Office of Prospect Development

35 Hours/Week

Overview

The Office of Prospect Development (OPD) in the University Advancement (UA) Division at Tufts University gathers and analyzes information on, and facilitates and tracks communication with, Tufts’ current and potential prospects and donors, including individuals, corporations and foundations.  OPD is primarily responsible for one of UA’s key strategic priorities:  the expansion of the University’s base of support, which complements the other fundamental priorities of building relationships and raising funds.  OPD addresses this need by conducting sophisticated research and analysis, identifying new prospects, and managing the processes of assigning the most promising prospects to development officer portfolios and assessing portfolio performance.  OPD is also responsible for maintaining current and accurate information on all prospects and ensuring the Advance database represents UA’s full knowledge of prospect-related activity.

Job Description

The OPD team is in need of a full-time temporary prospect research analyst effective immediately through August 31, 2016.  The prospect research analyst will provide information toward the fundraising efforts of University Advancement.  The analyst will generate prospect analyses and reports for individuals, corporations and foundations in a variety of formats for development staff and for University administrators. She or he will also enter prospect information within the University’s central donor database. The analyst will gather and interpret biographic, financial, philanthropic, business and family information from online and internal sources, compile reports, provide capacity ratings, and maintain accurate database records.

We seek candidates with exceptional research and good writing skills; proficiency in Microsoft Office applications; and the ability to respond to changing priorities and work assignments.  Additionally, candidates need to have excellent business and analytical skills and the desire to function in a fast-paced environment.  While knowledge of prospect research and experience with complex databases is highly desired, we place particular value on candidates who are information specialists of any kind.
