TITLE: Reference Librarian

DEPARTMENT: Public Library

LOCATION: Hingham Public Library 66 Leavitt St. Hingham, MA

STATUS: Part-time: 16 hours/week average.

HOURS: Schedule includes some evenings and Saturdays as scheduled by the Assistant Library Director. Schedule subject to change throughout the year.

SALARY: $26.62 – $32.05 per hour (Grade L 14) in five annual steps.

DUTIES: The Hingham Public Library seeks a customer service oriented individual to work in its Reference Department. Duties involve providing reference, genealogical research and reader’s advisory services to adults, training staff and/or public to use electronic resources and devices, planning and scheduling library programs for adults. Assists the public with technological functions such as accessing Internet, email, social media and Office applications. Works on special projects as assigned by the Assistant Library Director or the Library Director. Other duties as assigned.

REQUIREMENTS: A candidate for this position should have a Masters Degree in Library Science from an ALA accredited college or university and two (2) years of professional reference experience, preferably in a public library setting with an automated environment. Demonstrated customer service skills and technology skills preferred.
