KM Data Steward, Ropes & Gray LLP, Boston, MA

The KM Data Steward works with the KM Products Solutions team within the Knowledge Management Department and is responsible for inputting and maintaining the integrity of the data in selected internal KM Solutions. This position is responsible for entering new records, cleaning up data, eliminating/merging duplicate data, researching and filling in missing information, and resolving discrepancies. The Database Steward will work closely with the KM Product Manager to insure the integrity of records and will interface with attorneys, secretaries and IT staff as necessary to administer the database.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

  1. Updates and maintains accurate records in the firm’s internal KM databases;
  2. Assists with user access and permissions changes;
  3. Cross-references data to ensure accuracy, non-duplication and to resolve any discrepancies;
  4. Regularly conducts research on firm matters to find missing pieces of information and to verify data;
  5. Participates in continuous and ongoing training on the applications;
  6. Assists with other KM projects as assigned;
  7. Assists with activities related to any upgrades of the databases.

EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE, AND SKILLS REQUIRED:

  • Bachelor’s degree with a minimum of two years experience in database usage.
  • Preferred experience in legal or professional services industry.
  • Demonstrated skills in the implementation of new systems and procedures.
  • Working knowledge of computer software programs, such as MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint.
