MITRE’s Information Services department seeks a Team Lead to work with our successful Custom Research and Knowledge Services Team within the Corporation. The Information Services department is responsible for working across MITRE to provide information services such as environmental customer scans, research analyst services, digital libraries, InfoCenter Services, and SharePoint stewardship. The department also functions as the Knowledge Commons for the corporation. 

The individual would be responsible for working with the Custom Research and Knowledge Services Team to provide information support to MITRE’s work programs and processes. They would be responsible for implementing and advancing the Custom Research and Knowledge Services strategic plan and initiatives, as well as, contributing to the department’s strategic plans and initiatives. The individual will be required to have an in-depth understanding of information management practices that translate into successful products and solutions that meet the needs of our customers.

Key Functions

  • Lead a team of Information Analysts – located in Bedford, MA, McLean, VA and two teleworkers – who provide knowledge management, analysis, and research services to MITRE staff 
  • Ensure the continuous development of staff and skills to meet evolving demands for custom research and analysis services Implement the Custom Research and Knowledge Services strategic plan and support department initiatives and goals Continue shepherding forward the Current Awareness and Competitive Intelligence strategic plans Expand, build and maintain relationships with customers throughout MITRE Advance the delivery of our products and services and ensure quality is sustained and evaluated regularly for improvement Identify where self-service products will meet MITRE work program requirementsWork with InfoDesk Services to triage research requests and participate in providing custom research and analysis services using the full range of available resourcesManage the Custom Research and Knowledge Services portfolio which includes metrics collection and analysis as well as the fiscal budget.Participate in the selection and review of Information Resources content Coordinate with peers and cross-organizational teams

Required Skills

    Master’s degree in Library and/or Information Science (or related field.) • At least 6 years of professional experience in information delivery, building and maintaining customer relationships, and utilizing new technologies to advance the skills of a multifaceted service operation. 
    Demonstrated leadership and supervisory skills. Demonstrated clear communication have exceptional customer service Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively in a team environment, to solve problems creatively, and to effectively build partnerships

SkillsExperience in a corporate, government, or academic organization supporting engineers and other highly technical professionalsProven ability to develop and maintain relationships with customers to understand and anticipate their information needsStrong interpersonal and communications skills with demonstrated ability to communicate effectively across level and functionFamiliarity with Microsoft Office suite of products and demonstrated ability to present information effectively to multiple sized audiencesFamiliarity with SharePoint , content management systems, and collaboration toolsKnowledge of big data analytic tools such as Palantir are a plusExperience managing projects across teamsMinimum education / experience
