January – June

Job Description:
The Cambridge School of Weston Assistant Librarian reports to and support the work of the Director of Library and Media Services. He/she will support all aspects of library operations including managing and supervising the library space, working directly with students and faculty providing assistance with research and book selection. 

In general the assistant librarian should embody the following CSW values:

More specifically the assistant librarian would:

  • Assist in the acquisition, organization, and management of a diverse collection of valuable print/digital resources to promote student and teacher learning 
  • Demonstrate a strong understanding of and application in the instruction of 21st century skills, including an in-depth knowledge of research and inquiry
  • Collaborate with classroom teachers as a partner in the instructional process 
  • Collaborate to design, teach, and assess learning experiences that incorporate inquiry learning, information literacies in their formats, critical thinking and self-assessment 
  • Have demonstrated experience with current and emerging research technologies
  • Foster love of learning
  • Manage circulation database and library accounts
  • Create displays relevant to current courses or topics in the school’s curriculum or program
  • Maintain the school library as a quiet learning environment as well as an “unquiet” collaborative 
  • Actively participate in the life of the school; integrating the library into the core of the academic program by making connections with students and faculty
  • Supervise student workers
  • Stay current in professional practices, educational research; maintains active professional 
  • Advocate for school library program through an effective public relations program 
  • Develop and execute non-academic programming in the library
