Long Term Upper School Substitute Librarian, The Westminster Schools, Atlanta, GA

The Westminster Schools is seeking a Long Term Upper School Librarian for the spring of 2016. This position runs approximately April 4 – May 27 and will follow academic schedule, generally 8am-3:30pm.

This faculty member will join a growth-oriented, collaborative learning community committed to the school’s mission and vision, including core values of diversity and service. Westminster excels regionally and nationally in every area of school life–from academics to the arts to athletics–achieving excellence through a wide range of programming supported by a wealth of resources. These include the Center for Teaching, a professional development institute located on the Westminster campus.

 Essential Requirements, Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Bibliographic instruction
  • Collection development
  • Processing of materials
  • Creation of displays, shelving, and others as assigned
  • Supervision of upper school students

Qualifications:

  • Enrollment in (or recent completion of) a Master’s Degree in Library and Information Science program from an ALA accredited institution
  • Completion of reference course
  • Familiarity with resources suitable for college prep students
  • Ability to work in a professional environment with young adults
  • Ability to work both independently and collaboratively 

The successful candidate will gain significant school library experience in the daily operations of the library as well as participate in substantial teaching opportunities. Depending upon an applicant’s program requirements, the position may qualify for accreditation and/or course credit. Where possible, Westminster will work with qualified candidates and relevant institutions to help facilitate this process.
