Temporary Part Time (2 Positions)

DUTIES

The Scanning Technician is responsible for scanning, inputting metadata, performing preliminary quality-control checks, naming files in standard file naming convention as well as handling photographic special collections materials and archival rehousing.

This is a temporary position that is funded through June 30, 2016.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Sensitivity to and experience with handling of archival materials
  • Comfortable working in Excel, basic Photoshop and with scanning equipment
  • Attention to detail, ability to incorporate direction and feedback, and follow archival standards and best practices

REQUIREMENTS

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Library Science, History, or Anthropology preferred; graduate student acceptable
  • Archival or library background
  • Must be able to pass RI BCI and be trained in security measures for special,collections 

HOURS: 15 – 18 hours per week

HOURLY RATE: $15 – $18 per hour depending on qualifications and experience
