Assessment and Collection Management Librarian, Lesley University, Cambridge, MA

Job Description:

Reporting to the Head of Collection Services, and serving on the Library Leadership Team, this position will provide leadership and evidence-based support for library planning and decision-making through the development and implementation of the library’s strategic assessment program. Position will plan, facilitate, and carry out assessment initiatives; and will chair Library’s Assessment Workgroup. Collaborates on the development and administration of collection management functions in a multi-campus environment across all formats; coordinates and supports the work of the Liaisons to the academic departments.

General professional responsibilities include liaison responsibilities to an academic department(s), reference service with evening, weekend, and holiday rotation as needed, and collaborative work with library staff and faculty to meet the mission and goals of the University.

Requirements:

  • MS in Information Technology or Library Science or its equivalent from an ALA accredited program.
  • Three – five years of professional work experience, preferably in an academic library setting.
  • Experience with quantitative and qualitative assessment methodologies, including research and survey design.
  • Knowledgeable of trends in library assessment.
  • Experience in the use of relevant MS Office software – e.g., Excel and Access; and knowledge of library focused assessment tools such as LibQual and Balanced Scorecard.
  • Experience and success in working collaboratively with staff, faculty and students, as well as experience working with publishers and library vendors.
  • Demonstrated experience in project management.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of best practices and current trends in both electronic and physical collection management operations.
  • Solid understanding of academic library services and trends, and proven teaching and presentation skills.
  • Experience facilitating focus groups preferred.
  • Experience with Demand Driven or Patron Driven Acquisitions preferred.
  • Must be authorized to work in the United States; if you hold a visa, your visa status must allow you to work at Lesley University.

Salary Grade 25: $49,919 – $59,403
