Youth and Family Services Manager (Librarian III), Suffolk Public Library, Suffolk, VA

Brief description of position

We believe in connecting individuals and groups to information, ideas and experiences in any way possible, and we are looking for an innovative leader to help strengthen our ability to meet our customers where they are. We want you to take our services for youth and their caregivers to new heights and increase our ability to reach new audiences as our Youth and Family Services Manager.

Our Youth and Family Services Department are the front lines in programming and outreach for children ages 0-18 and their caregivers, and their depth of knowledge and passion for community service sets the tone for much of what we do.

Typical Qualifications

Master’s degree in Library and Information Science or closely related field with three to five years of public library experience involving youth services, and some supervisory experience; or any equivalent combination of education, training, and experience which provides the requisite knowledge, skills, and abilities for this job.  Some library programming experience preferred. Must possess state Library certification or be able to obtain state Library certification by date of hire.  Requires a valid driver’s license.
