Neighborhood Library Services Manager, Boston Public Library, Boston, MA

The Boston Public Library is accepting applications for the Neighborhood Library Services Manager position.

The Neighborhood Library Services Manager will be a key leader in a dynamic organization and will participate in the shaping of the Boston Public Library into a truly 21st century library – a customer-focused, responsive and innovative system.

The Neighborhood Library Services Manager reports to the Director of Library Services and is a member of the Library’s Leadership Team. The position provides direction, oversight and management of Boston Public Library’s branch system of 24 community libraries. The Neighborhood Library Services Manager is responsible for the effective and efficient delivery of services to the residents of Boston consistent with the Library’s mission, goals, and service priorities; and will direct and oversee the implementation of the library’s Strategic Plan.

The Neighborhood Library Services Manager will foster a public service environment where the Central Library and branch libraries are true partners in delivering services to library users, as well as harness technology and staff creativity to deliver information services when and where customers want them. Other responsibilities include establishing performance benchmarks for projects and staff with a focus on employee engagement, fostering a positive work environment and developing operational efficiencies.

Salary: $90,838 – $122,634, DOQ. Competitive benefits.

Minimum Qualifications:

Education – Master’s Degree in Library Science (MLS or MLIS) from an ALA – accredited library school.

Experience – Requires 7+ years in a library environment with management experience in an urban, multi-branch public library that demonstrates knowledge of public services, including community outreach, programming, public instruction, library collections, reference, service delivery technology and service evaluation.

Requirements

  2. Residency – Must be a resident of the City of Boston upon the first day of hire
  3. CORI – Must successfully clear a Criminal Offenders Record Information check with the City of Boston
