Fact Not Fiction New England is looking for a qualified intern to join our team. Our company specializes in teaching history-related classes, seminars, and lectures at colleges, retirement communities, senior centers, libraries and other education venues. We write comprehensive company histories and publish them. We create and produce New England history-related podcasts and video-casts for our website and edit a newsletter called New England History Quarterly. We also produce history-themed events for fundraisers, parties or corporate events. This intern should be prepared to work independently and remotely, and will finish the internship having gained broad experience in various aspects of marketing and editing. This job will be approximately 5-10 hours/week.

 

Mission

1) To provide classes/lectures on New England history

2) To write comprehensive and well-researched histories for regional companies

3) To produce fun and unique history-themed events for businesses and individuals alike

Responsibilities

Marketing:

  • Gather emails/contact information for various market segments and input them into a spreadsheet for email blasts
  • Assist in the creation of press releases, flyers and e-mail campaigns
  • Assist in the distribution of marketing materials
  • Provide support for social media efforts
  • Perform analysis of marketing and sales data
  • Prepare presentations for various companies, groups and organizations
  • Keep website up to date and current

Podcasts/Editing:

  • Scheduling and management of podcast guests – including initial contact and confirmation
  • Assist creatively by submitting podcast topics, taking video footage, and conducting pre-show
  • interviews or research.
  • Assist in packaging podcasts for online and social media distribution and promotion
  • Edit articles submitted to New England History Quarterly following the guidelines established by FNF

 

Requirements

This is an unpaid position of approximately 5-10 hours each week. This person should have a love of history, a familiarity with New England, excellent verbal and written communication skills, and outgoing personality. Knowledge of the Internet and social media are a plus. The organization needed to conduct and gather research is important. PowerPoint, Word and Excel experience is a bonus, and will be considered when choosing the best applicant for this internship position.
