Cengage Learning has an exciting opportunity for a Content Implementation Manager, located in our Boston office.

Responsibilities include:

Working closely with Product Managers and Software Developers to ensure content supports product features.
Coordinating implementation of content requirements.
Explaining content and metadata structures to application developers.
Aligning content deliverables with software development schedules.
Developing and maintaining standard content workflows in order to rapidly scale digital product models.
Troubleshooting and organizing the resolution of content bugs.
Recognizing what is needed to achieve company goals and coordinating with different departments to ensure those goals are met.

Basic Qualifications Required:

A bachelor’s degree, or a minimum of three years equivalent experience working as a Content Engineer.
Experience working with structured data formats such as XML, XHTML, JSON, HTML5.
Knowledge of information retrieval concepts and practices, large scale relational databases, and content management concepts and techniques.
Basic understanding of programming languages such as Python, PERL, XSLT, XQuery, or Java.
Ability to design and execute structured analysis.
Understanding of how to use metadata to support information retrieval.
Experience working with JIRA or a comparable bug tracking tool.
Leadership, facilitation, problem-solving, organization, and planning skills.
Effective and clear written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to communicate with both technical and non-technical staff.
Experience building alignment and facilitating harmony across and within cross-functional project teams.
Successfully collaborated to implement a product from early stages to completion.

Preferred Qualifications:

Experience with agile development processes and recurring release cycles.
Experience automating content conversion from one format to another using XSLT or similar scripting language.
Knowledge of public standards like W3C, DAISY, EPUB 3, etc.
Experience with Cengage Learning’s products, editorial policies, processes, markets, or competitors’ products.
