Coordinator of Instructional Assessment, J.Y. Joyner Library, East Carolina University, Greenville, NC

J.Y. Joyner Library, East Carolina University is expanding its services to meet the needs of a rapidly growing campus. It seeks an enthusiastic and flexible colleague with a “customer first” philosophy to provide vision and guidance for a busy and established library instruction program. The Coordinator of Instructional Assessment leads the Research and Instructional Services (RIS) team in assessment initiatives related to library instruction and reference services. Reporting to the Head of RIS, this person coordinates library instruction activities; creates assessment reports; plans, implements and markets library instruction initiatives; collaborates with other campus entities such as the English Department and Writing Center; develops content for first year library instruction; coordinates a first year writing award; and teaches a variety of bibliographic instruction sessions.  The person will be involved in the library’s user experience (UX) efforts.  The Coordinator of Instructional Assessment provides assistance to students, faculty, and other members of the ECU community through our research consultation service, called Book a Librarian and regularly scheduled research desk shifts.

Finalists will be asked to make a brief presentation during the on-campus interview.

Rank, Salary and Benefits: 

This is a fixed-term appointment; which may subsequently be renewed for a multi-year appointment period following the initial year of employment. Salary of $43,500, with a comprehensive fringe benefits package.

Required Qualifications:

  • ALA-accredited master’s degree or international equivalent in library or information science.
  • Instructional experience
  • Familiarity with assessment tools and trends
  • Demonstrated project management skills
  • Familiarity with traditional and electronic reference sources
  • Strong commitment to helping students learn and succeed
  • Ability to work as a member of a team
  • Excellent interpersonal, written and oral skills

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Instructional experience in an academic library setting
  • Experience assessing instructional services
  • Familiarity with best practices and emerging trends in bibliographic instruction
  • Experience with reference services
  • Understanding of User Experience (UX)
  • Familiarity with scholarly communication t­­rends
