Library Specialist CL3, University of Southern Maine, Portland, ME

The University of Southern Maine seeks applicants for the position of Library Specialist CL3.  The Library Specialist CL3 provides a variety of paraprofessional services and support at the Learning Commons Desk, including reference, serials, information services, and computer assistance, primarily at times when other professional staffing at the library is minimal.  Judgment and initiative are frequently exercised in providing public services and interpreting policy.  The Library Specialist will have the needed computer skills to assist with library web-based guides and other information technology initiatives. This position has extensive in-person, telephone, and online interactions with students, faculty, staff, researchers, and the public, and utilizes a wide range of resources in a variety of formats.  As a first tier technical support person, the Library Specialist provides assistance with all equipment, software, and hardware available in the Libraries. This position supports the Coordinator of Research and Instructional Services by compiling statistical and other informational reports. The Library Specialist will assist Access Services staff in monitoring the building and performing closing procedures. 

This is a part-time, 24 hours/week position.  Hours are Tuesday through Thursday, 2:30pm – 11:00pm.
