Development and Communications Interns, Reach Out and Read, Boston, MA

Reach Out and Read is a national nonprofit organization that prepares America’s youngest children to succeed in school by partnering with doctors to prescribe books and encourage families to read together. During pediatric checkups, Reach Out and Read pediatricians give new books to children, ages 6 months through 5 years, and advise parents about the importance of reading aloud. Every year, through our network of 20,000 medical providers, Reach Out and Read serves 4 million children across all 50 states, focusing on those in low-income families. The families served by Reach Out and Read read together more often, and their children enter kindergarten better prepared to succeed, with larger vocabularies and stronger language skills, better prepared to achieve their potential in school and beyond.
