LOCATION: Library/Warwick Campus
SALARY: Commensurate with education and responsibility
SCHEDULE: 35 hours per week; Monday – Friday, Normally 8 a.m.- 4 p.m. 12-Month Calendar Position/Faculty Tenure-Track Assignment
BASIC FUNCTION: The Access Services Librarian is responsible for managing all aspects of the Circulation area of the Library including reserve functions, stack maintenance, student help and interlibrary loan.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Manages all Circulation functions, including:
- Oversight and maintenance of the automated circulation system o Maintenance of Reserves collection
- Oversight of intra-network lending
- Oversight of opening and closing procedures
- Hires, trains and supervises paraprofessional Circulation Desk staff and student workers and oversees time-keeping, scheduling, budget and task management
- Responsible for library stack maintenance, including inventory and discarding of library materials
- Oversees printer functions in library
- Coordinates Interlibrary loan and document delivery services
- Provides general information, research and reference services. Duties include:
- Assists patrons at the reference desk
- Instructs patrons on the use of all types of information resources, including print, internet and other electronic resources
- Maintains an in-depth knowledge of the print and electronic collections, library policies and other related college policies (e.g., computer use, print policies, etc.)
- Provides research assistance on an appointment basis
- Participates in library instruction, as needed
- Participates in planning, testing, and implementation of library systems and technology applications
- Troubleshoots technical issues; works with colleagues, consortium staff, and Information Technology staff to resolve problems Assists with the on-going design of the library website
- Serves as liaison to academic departments
- Fosters and maintains cooperation and open communications with other campus libraries and other college departments
- Participates in departmental, institutional and consortial committees
- Participates in short and long term library planning, including operational/budget planning
- Participates in the planning, development and implementation of library policies and procedures
- Provides statistical reports and reports for their areas of responsibility
- Performs other related duties as assigned
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Master’s Degree in library/information science from an ALA accredited institution required
- At least three (3) years’ professional library experience required; academic library preferred
- Reference experience preferred
- Strong communication, organizational and interpersonal skills required
- At least three (3) years’ experience with standard LIS system required; Innovative Interfaces, Inc. preferred
- Knowledge of electronic information resources, including web-based resources and electronic databases required
- Supervisory experience required
- Experience in library instruction preferred
