LIBRARIAN FOR HEALTH SCIENCES: Old Dominion University Libraries are looking for a librarian to help define and create a new liaison program. The successful candidate will take the initiative to identify, engage, and collaborate with colleagues to assess the information and resources needs of health sciences faculty, students, and staff, and develop services, collections, instruction, and programs meeting those needs. The incumbent will support scholarly communication, collection development, and research support services and initiatives. In addition to health sciences liaison duties, the incumbent will have opportunities to contribute to Libraries’ initiatives that could include communications and marketing, resource discovery, design of physical and virtual spaces, and user experience.
QUALIFICATIONS
Required:
- An ALA-accredited MLS or MLIS degree.
- Excellent organizational, communication and interpersonal skills.
- Analytical skills including independent problem solving, critical thinking and time management skills.
- Demonstrated skills in teaching. Knowledge of scholarly communication issues at the research university.
- Experience in teaching and training.
- Experience in identifying and meeting research needs of library users.
- Experience web development, multi-media applications and social media.
- Successful experience working in a team environment with both professional and support staff.
Preferred:
- Experience or coursework in health sciences librarianship.
- Experience in collection development.
- Experience in an academic or research library.
SALARY AND BENEFITS: Minimum $50,000. Excellent benefits package.
