Youth Collection Development Coordinator, Allen County Public Library, Fort Wayne, IN

Responsibilities: The Youth Collection Development Coordinator is responsible for developing Allen County Public Library’s system-wide collection of print and electronic books for children and young adults. Balance immediate customer demand with long-term development of the collection. Assist with the annual development of book budgets and help formulate collection development philosophy and policy.

Qualifications: 

  • Master’s of Library Science Degree from a school accredited by the American Library Association. 
  • 2 plus years of experience in collection development and collection management for a multi-location library system.
  • 1 plus years of experience working as a children’s or young adult librarian, performing public service tasks such as reference desk work and programming
  • Cooperative spirit, reliability, enthusiasm, friendliness, energy, resourcefulness, initiative, tact, good judgment, and a sense of humor are essential. 
  • Must apply for and maintain Indiana Library Certification, earning 50 LEU (Library Education Units) within five years.
