Part-Time Library Assistant (two positions), Worcester State University, Worcester, MA

Worcester State University library invites applicants for two part-time Library Assistants during the academic year (Fall and Spring semesters). The positions are non-benefitted, non-union positions. The primary responsibility for each position is providing customer service to students, faculty, staff and all members of the college community. Duties include renewing and discharging library books and materials; aiding library users in locating and using materials; collecting fines; closing the library; verifying the proper location of books and materials; performing inventory control functions and assisting with collection management including shelf-reading and barcoding; assisting with interlibrary loan; participating in special projects; and performing related work as required.

Positions are supervised by Full-Time Library Assistants.

Requirements:

Applicants must have at least one year of full-time or equivalent part-time experience as a library Assistant. Experience with library systems and Microsoft Office Suite. Attention to detail, effective communication and outstanding customer service skills. Associate Degree and previous academic library experience desired. Ability to communicate effectively and provide outstanding customer service.

Work Schedule:

One position will work: Monday 8 pm – 1 am, Wednesday 8 pm – 1 am, and Saturday 9-2 pm. The other position will work: Sunday 11 am- 4 pm, Tuesday 8 pm – 1 am, and Thursday 8 pm – 1 am.

The pay rate is $13.27 per hour based on a fifteen hour week.

This is a part-time non benefited position.
