Youth Librarian for Children and Young Adults, Hollis Social Library, Hollis, NH

The Hollis Social Library is seeking a Youth Librarian responsible for daily operations of the Children’s and Young Adult department. Duties include the development and implementation of programs as well as collection development and cataloging of all youth materials.

The role requires an enthusiasm for serving patrons and the promotion of literacy to the children and young adults in the community via outreach to schools and other local organizations. The role is responsible for all aspects of planning and promoting programs and strong programming skills for youth (from birth to eighteen) are critical to this position. Programming includes story hours, book discussion groups, movies, special events and the summer reading program. 

The candidate will work with the Library Director to administer the children’s budget for materials and programs. Other responsibilities include reader’s advisory and reference service; public relations and grant writing; maintaining welcoming children’s and young adult areas and assisting patrons at the circulation desk. In the absence of Library Director and Circulation & Adult Services Librarian, this role acts in a supervisory capacity for library staff during library hours.

Demonstrated successful experience working with children in a library, educational or other learning environment is required.   

This job is a 30 hour a week position. Candidate must be able to work evenings and weekends on a regular basis.

Qualifications:

MLS is not required but preferred. Candidate should have the ability to read aloud and relate to listeners and be familiar with ILS systems, Dewey Decimal System, Microsoft Office and have knowledge of children’s literature and programming experience. The ideal candidate will have experience as a youth librarian.

Salary: $17.50/hour
