Description

The Library Operations Assistant supports the Access Services and Information Services departments by assisting patrons at a service desk and modelling appropriate delivery of services for student employees, providing reciprocal borrowing services, and performing periodical collection maintenance. This position also facilitates access to Media Desk collections and services. In addition, this position monitors and performs basic troubleshooting for library copiers, microfilm, scanners, and printers and related supplies and assists and instructs patrons on their use. 

Required

  • Bachelor’s Degree or current enrollment in a baccalaureate degree program.
  • Ability to operate a computer and familiarity with Windows, Microsoft Outlook, Word, and Excel, as well as web browsers.
  • Able to handle stressful interactions with patrons.
  • One year of experience working with customers or academic community members.

Preferred/Desirable

  • High level of ability in using Ex Libris Voyager circulation and call slip module or similar library management system.
  • High level of ability in using Interlibrary Loan systems such as ILLiad, CLIO, OCLC World Sharing, and Commonwealth Catalog.
  • Knowledge of Library of Congress call number system.
  • Familiarity with Apple operating systems.
  • Able to perform basic troubleshooting for computer, printer, scanner, microfilm reader and copy machine.
  • Familiarity with Adobe Acrobat Professional.
