Library Director, Boyden Library, Foxborough, MA

The Town of Foxborough is seeking a qualified candidate for the position of Library Director to manage and direct all library operations, services and activities in a state of the art facility, providing leadership and direction to a team of library professionals.

Duties include but are not limited to:

Managing the daily operations of the library, developing and implementing customer service policies, and responding to suggestions and comments from the public.

Personnel management; including recruitment, training, discipline, performance evaluation and dismissal. Labor Relations, including involvement in collective bargaining process, grievance resolution.

Developing and administering the annual budget which includes monitoring expenditures as well as payroll.

Managing library functions, including collection development, acquisitions, cataloging, reference services and programming.

Developing library policies in consultation with the Library Board of Trustees, preparing and presenting short term as well as long range plans for the library based on community needs and library operations.

Developing goals and designing program activities to meet planning objectives.

Managing the provision of computer network services, including internal as well as external networks and public access computers, and planning library technology services

Coordinating building maintenance activities with the Centralized Facility Maintenance Dept., and overseeing maintenance or repair activities as needed.

Promoting and publicizing library programs and services.

Coordinating activities with other town departments, and with State and local officials, Researching trends in the provision of library services including management or information technology, Performance of similar or related work as required, directed, or as the situation dictates.

Qualifications and experience: Master’s Degree in Library Science, five years of experience in library administration including personnel management, fiscal management, program development and facility management or any equivalent combination of education experience. State Certification of Librarianship from the Massachusetts Board of Library Commissioners. Ability to supervise staff in an effective and supportive manner, and ability to establish and maintain working relationships with organizations, departments, and officials.

Salary: Salary range $88,129.60-$110,052.80. Full time benefit-eligible position
