Director of Library Services, Boston Children’s Hospital, Boston, MA

The library at Boston Children’s Hospital, one of the pre-eminent pediatric hospitals, is seeking a innovative and creative librarian anxious to create the “library of the future”. In addition to the typical duties, the new director will be heavily involved in working on the move of the library to a new location. Located next to the C-suite in a building near the main campus, the new library will be in a smaller space as some of the collection will be converted to electronic-only format. To meet the needs of clinical staff who are unable to leave main campus during regular work hours, there will be a smaller, library computer-work space on the main campus. As the library undergoes this move, the new director will have an opportunity to evaluate the implementation of potential new services such as embedded librarians, clinical rounding and services for the satellite locations.

The library aims to support Boston Children’s Hospital’s mission which is four-fold: to provide the highest quality care; to be a leading source of research and discovery; to educate the next generation of leaders in child health and to enhance the health of children in our community.
