Head – Adult Services Librarian, Westwood Public Library, Westwood, MA

The Westwood Public Library is seeking a creative and energetic professional librarian to fill the position of Head – Adult Services Librarian.
Responsibilities and duties include providing general reference and reader’s advisory services for adults and young adults, as well as instructing patrons on use of library tools to become proficient in library research techniques. Assists patrons in the use of the public access catalog and provides technical assistance with computer applications, portable devices, and downloads from OverDrive; offers additional support as needed. Responsible for collection development and management of materials budget for purchase of library materials.
Position reports to the Library Director. Schedule will include one evening per week and one Saturday per month.
Qualifications:
- Master’s in Library Science from an A.L.A.-accredited institution
- Five years of experience in library operations, including acquisitions, reference, cataloging, and collection development
- Supervisory experience
This position requires a thorough working knowledge of library principles and procedures, as well as complete familiarity with automated library systems and related applications. Knowledge of print and online sources required. Must be interested in current events.
The successful candidate will have excellent public relations skills, strong oral and written communication skills, and flexibility in order to adapt to constantly changing technology. Good budgetary skills a plus!
Salary and Benefits: This is a full-time (35 hours per week) position with benefits. Annual salary range is $51,954.37 – $64,883.89.
