Digital Resources & Distance Learning Librarian, New England College, Henniker, NH

This position is responsible for the development and management of electronic information resources as well as the online user experience for library patrons. In addition, this position coordinates the planning, implementation and evaluation of library resources/services addressing the information needs of the online and Graduate and Professional Studies program community and serves as the main library liaison to these programs.

Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Work effectively with colleagues and the greater community to advance the mission of the library and the college;
  • Evaluate, acquire, develop and maintain electronic database resources and access to these resources;
  • Develop new digital services as required by new or changing academic programs and liaison with various consortia pricing and licensing details;
  • Design, develop and maintain the library website;
  • Provide online and face-to-face reference services for all library patrons (online/graduate/undergraduate students/faculty, staff, public users);
  • Design, coordinate and assess library services for on-campus and off-campus students and faculty in the online and Graduate and Professional Studies programs, including course management software, online and electronic resources;
  • Provide Information Literacy instruction as needed to online and graduate courses, including face-to-face classroom instruction, orientation sessions for students and faculty, and other types of instruction, including online and other delivery mechanisms;
  • Function as library liaison to online programs and serve on relevant committees as requested;
  • Participate in library, college, and professional committee activities, meetings, workshops, and conferences;
  • Other duties as assigned.

Minimum Requirements:

  • Master’s degree in library and/or information science from an ALA-accredited institution or equivalent institution
  • Three years academic library experience directly related to the duties and responsibilities specified
  • Experience planning, teaching, and assessing instruction sessions in an electronic environment
  • Experience using information technology and techniques that promote active learning
  • Experience using course management software and remote presentation applications
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills and the ability to communicate professionally with a diverse constituency
  • Strong computer skills, including experience using digital resources, the internet and website design
  • Demonstrated expertise in the creation and delivery of library services for distance learners
  • Working knowledge of online databases and e-reference materials common to academic libraries
  • Working knowledge of web development tools and content management best practices for library and information resources
  • Ability and willingness to work in a team environment
  • Familiarity with various styles of adult learners
  • Ability to travel occasionally to distance education sites or libraries
  • Availability to work some weeknights and/or weekends
