Position: Librarian/Media/Technology Specialist Full Time, Millbury Memorial Junior/Senior High School

The Library/Media/Technology Specialist provides all students with an enriched library environment containing a wide variety of materials that will invite intellectual growth, and to aid all students in acquiring the skills needed to take full advantage of media center resources. The High School Library/Media/Technology Specialist reports to the building principal.

General Duties:

  • Daily operation of the Library/Media Center, including the budgeting, ordering, and management of all library resources
  • Works closely with classroom teachers and students to help develop effective research skills, improved literacy, effective and appropriate technology skills (including the use of Web 2.0 tools), and a life-long love of reading
  • Collaborates with individual teachers or teams of teachers on projects and initiatives
  • Teaches a research class as part of the daily schedule
  • Works collaboratively with colleagues
  • Coordinates meetings with Elementary Media Specialists to assist with vertical alignment
  • Participates in District Technology Committee
  • Responsible for management, coordination and security of building-wide shared technology resources and hardware (laptop carts, online student apps, etc.)
  • Assists teachers in the selection of books and other instructional materials, and makes library materials available to supplement the instructional program
  • Endeavors to guide students in developing information literacy skills
  • Supervises students in the performance of their academic course load, including VHS, while in the library
  • Pursues technology training to provide and assist teachers and students as needed
  • Maintains an online comprehensive and efficient system for cataloging all library materials
  • Arranges for interlibrary loan of materials of interest or use for teachers and students

Qualifications:

  1. Licensed, or eligible for licensure in Library by the Massachusetts Department of Elementary & Secondary Education
  2. Bachelor’s Degree, Master’s preferred, from an accredited college or university, in Library Science or related field

Salary: Teacher Contract
