Strategic Communications Specialist, Brandeis University, Waltham, MA

Library & Technology Services (LTS) at Brandeis University is looking for a Strategic Communications Specialist to communicate LTS strategic directions, goals and objectives to a variety of constituencies by creating compelling success stories and marketing materials.

This person will collaboratively develop and implement a marketing and communication plan with internal and external stakeholders and manage the LTS website.

Examples of Key Responsibilities:

  • Design consistent and effective messages, marketing materials, media kits, campaigns and brand standards to represent and promote LTS. Produce marketing and promotional materials that communicate, inform and persuade, including annual reports, web content, social media campaigns, print brochures, mailers, newsletters, emails, advertisements, signage, digital media, posters, publications, and other materials. Collaborate with development and fundraising teams to create diverse communication and marketing strategies for donors. Help promote Library special events, exhibits, and other outreach activities.
  • Manage, develop, and curate the LTS website; write new content, establish new features, and develop new interactive elements.
  • Support LTS senior management by preparing background materials for meetings; drafting and editing communications with external and campus constituencies; and assisting with other strategic projects as assigned.
  • Liaise with other departments and communications and marketing professionals across the university community to create innovative approaches to heighten awareness, understanding, and engagement with Library & Technology Services collections, activities, services, and initiatives.

Requirements:

Bachelor’s degree in strategic communications, journalism, public relations, marketing, or related field; exceptional writing and communication skills; initiative and ability to manage time, prioritize multiple and concurrent tasks, and quickly produce results under tight deadlines; ability to creatively approach challenges and projects and to work effectively, both independently and in teams, to drive toward common goals, consistent with LTS vision and strategies. Experience developing websites using HTML, DHTML, Java Script, CSS, XML/XSL, and other common web languages.

Desired: Experience working with library, IT, non-profit, or higher education organization; two years of professional work experience creating, writing and editing a variety of materials such as articles, brochures, news releases and web content; background in PHP and other programming languages; advanced degree in Library Science, IT, or related field; creative flair and capability to consistently generate new ideas.
