Library Director, Milton Academy, Milton, MA

Milton Academy seeks a dynamic individual to serve as the director of the Cox Library. The director oversees all aspects of the School’s library programs and facilities for students in grades 6-12 and coordinates with the lower school librarian. Reporting to the K-8 and Upper School principals, the director works closely with Milton Academy program leaders and the dean of teaching and learning to ensure that the library’s academic and technical resources advance the School’s educational program. In addition, the director oversees budgeting, staffing, collection development, and instruction.

With experience in and a passion for curricular and pedagogical innovation, the director will ensure that the Cox Library remains a dynamic intellectual center for teachers and students alike. To do so, the director will promote information literacy, love of reading, critical thinking, and the use of emerging digital technologies. In 2014, the School completed a review of its library program; the next director will have the opportunity to use that review to lead the library team in its re-envisioning of Cox Library’s role in Milton’s future.

Candidates should possess a master’s degree in library science or the equivalent, a minimum of five years of experience in a secondary school library or a similar setting, at least two years of supervisory experience, a record of working collaboratively with multiple constituencies, and the ability to work in a diverse community.
