Temporary Circulation Library Assistant, Public Library, Central MA (near CT border)

BiblioTemps®, a short-term staffing service of the Massachusetts Library System, is seeking candidates for a temporary Circulation Library Assistant for one of our public library clients. The schedule for this part-time assignment will be Tuesday 11:30am-8pm, Thursday 8:30am-5pm, Friday 8:30am-5pm, and Saturday 8:30am-2pm. The placement will begin in ASAP and continue until the beginning of June.
Duties:
- Provides coverage at the adult Circulation Desk, answering telephone and onsite requests.
- Sorts and shelves returned materials.
- Assists library patrons with various needs.
- Operates standard office equipment, technology, and machinery, with ability to perform basic trouble-shooting.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
- Associates degree and two years of work experience in an equivalent position. Previous library experience strongly preferred.
- Knowledge of computer software and systems, including internet, word processing, and spreadsheets. Experience with Evergreen preferred.
- Ability to work independently and set priorities for multiple tasks; maintain confidentiality of library patron information; and exercise good judgment, courtesy, and tact in dealing with public.
- Excellent customer service skills.
