Library Assistant, Chester C. Corbin Public Library, Webster MA

Duties/Description:

Statement of Duties: Performs various duties as assigned in the operation of the library including assisting with
circulation duties, processing library materials and assisting where needed. Performs all other related work as
required.

Schedule: Must be able to work flexible hours and at least every other Saturday. Will work some mornings and some evenings. The schedule will switch daily between the Children’s Room and the main circulation desk.

Supervision: Works under broad supervision using established procedures and instruction from Library Director, may perform assigned tasks under supervision of Adult Services or Youth Services Librarians. Occasionally will work unsupervised and be expected to solve problems independently.

Essential Functions: Use library automated circulation system to circulate materials, process holds, register
patrons, and collect fines and fees. Answer basic reference questions, shelve returned materials, perform basic
troubleshooting, and perform other related duties as required.

Qualifications: Education & Experience: Minimum High School Diploma or G.E.D. equivalency and basic internet and computer skills.

Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities: Experience with common office equipment: ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing; general computer, internet, and keyboarding skills; ability to work with limited supervision.

Evergreen experience not required, but is a plus.

Salary: $11.00 /hr. up to 19 hrs. per week. Non union, no benefits.
