The Wheelock College Earl Center for Learning & Innovation is accepting applications for Evening/Weekend Public Services Assistants

 

This is a part-time, pre-professional position that will provide incumbents with experience in working with curriculum materials collections and educational technologies, as well as in supervision of student workers.  Candidates must demonstrate interest in all aspects of public services work in a curriculum center which is closely aligned with an academic library.

 

General Responsibilities:

 

  • Manages the Center during evenings and weekend hours
  • Supervises and assigns work to student employees
  • Assists with opening and closing the Center as necessary
  • Upholds Earl Center policies 
  • Provides assistance to patrons in accessing and using cataloged curriculum materials using the Voyager system
  • Assists patrons with accessing and using art supplies and equipment
  • Provides assistance to patrons in the use and application of educational technologies at the Center
  • Maintains organization of the collections, equipment, and supplies 
  • Troubleshoots basic equipment, printer and other technical issues
  • Maintains statistics and records of Center activity

 

 

Qualifications

  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.  Previous customer service and/or supervisory experience preferred.
  • Interest in elementary school librarianship and/or working with curriculum materials collections
  • Interest in the use of technologies in education
  • Priority given to individuals currently enrolled in a graduate library science program for two or fewer semesters. 
  • Must be available evenings and weekends.

Hours: evenings and weekends, approximately 10-15 hours per week when school is in session; summer hours also available

 

Pay: $13.00/hour
