Please note that this is a part-time, in-person position ($21/hour for a maximum of 14 hours/week). It is a temporary position for HKS’ Spring Semester (Feb-May).
Harvard Kennedy School (HKS) is seeking applications for a Research & Data Services Assistant for our
Library & Research Services (LRS) team for the Spring 2025 semester.
LRS supports the research, learning, and curricular needs of faculty, researchers, students, and staff. It
also provides researchers around the world with information related to public policy, public
administration, and international affairs.

Reporting to the Manager of Research & Data Services, the Research & Data Services Assistant provides research support for HKS students, faculty, staff, and fellows. The Research & Data Services Assistant will primarily provide support at the Library Services Desk but may also work on other related projects, including in areas of library instruction, research data management, and delivery of online course materials. The person in this role will:
- Provide professional reference service to the library’s varied users, including faculty, staff,
students, and fellows at the Library Services Desk and using our online reference system. - Create and update FAQs and Research Guides (LibGuides) to facilitate research at HKS.
- Complete other duties as assigned by the Manager of Research & Data Services.
Required Qualifications: Current enrollment in or completion of an ALA-accredited graduate level
library program and/or relevant work experience and an interest in providing research services at a
public services desk.
Preferred Qualifications: Previous research/reference services work experience is preferred but not
necessary; we are happy to train the right candidate.
